The Escapist Welcomes More Video Series

This article is over 16 years old and may contain outdated information

Durham, NC – May 15, 2008 – The Escapist is proud to announce the exciting addition of the two new video series “Videogame Theater,” the inventive live-action puppet show starring retro-gaming icons, and the original series “Kung Fu Grip,” featuring the stars of the gaming industry’s hottest games, to its expansive arsenal of esteemed editorial and video content.

“Videogame Theater” is the twisted, live-action puppet show starring videogame arcade stars as you’ve never seen them before. The series was created by Scott Chernoff, a regular contributor to Jimmy Kimmel Live; Frank Meyer, the Webby Award-winning creator of G4tv.com’s Freestyle 101; and BJ Guyer, coordinating producer, puppet builder, and puppeteer of Comedy Central’s Crank Yankers. “Videogame Theater” will make its exclusive US debut Tuesday, May 27, and air bi-weekly at The Escapist.

“Kung Fu Grip” is The Escapist’s original series showcasing doubles of the industry’s most sensational stars, in action-figure form, created by Benny and Rafi Fine, the comic genius sons of a rabbi with a sick sense of humor and a scathing wit whose popular LOST parodies have taken the internet by storm. Episode one of “Kung Fu Grip” will premier worldwide Thursday, May 22, exclusively at The Escapist and will present new episodes every other week.

“We’re very excited to be working with the Videogame Theater team and The Fine Bros.,” says Russ Pitts, Head of Video Acquisitions and Production for The Escapist. “These guys could work anywhere, and that they’ve chosen to produce their endeavors for us is incredible. Both new series represent everything that’s good about video on the web. We truly believe the web is the future of entertainment, and folks like these guys are proof of that.”
