The X-Files is Back for 6 Episode Mini-Season

We’re Back in Business! Sort of…

mulder and scully

Good news, everyone! The X-Files is returning to a screen near you! Not only has Chris Carter, creator of the famed series, signed back on for a new season but so have stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. There’s nothing quite like when a team gets back together to bring a much-anticipated television phenomenon back to air.

According to Carter, “the good news is that the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.” This sounds to me like we could be in store for a monster-of-the-week format with this new season, which I believe would be a very successful way to embrace one of the key achievements of the early X-Files episodes.

The not-so-good news? There’s only six episodes planned, but six incredible episodes definitely trumps no episodes at all. This revival has been in the works since January of this year so it’s nice to see some action finally happening. Production is slated for this summer, but with no premiere date currently scheduled, all we know for sure is that The X-Files will air on its home network, Fox, when all is said and done. Now, if we could just get another season of Firefly

What are your theories on the six monsters for the new season? Is there anyone else from the cast you’d want to see in the new season?
