Hey, everyone! It’s me, your new community manager—Kyle Gaddo!
I am taking over the role from our beloved Basement Cat, who is now joining the team of wonderful moderators here at Escapist Magazine Volume Two!
I’d like to thank our Editor-in-Chief Russ Pitts for having me aboard. He and I have worked together via Take This in the past and I look forward to channeling that same energy into Escapist Magazine’s community.
As your community manager, my primary job is to care about you. That might sound silly to some, but my ideal approach to managing any community is to be present for you. To make you feel heard, make you feel understood, and, above all, make you feel safe. As such, I’m going to try to make myself as available as possible. In doing so, my hopes are to build a better, stronger, and more loving community for you and with you. After all, Escapist Magazine is nothing without you.
A little about me: I’ve been in the games space since early 2010 where I started as an enthusiast blogger, having contributed to major outlets like RPG Site and Paste Magazine. Sometime around the middle of 2015, I was offered the opportunity to work in public relations and marketing for indies, which I did until 2017.
In addition to my work in gaming, I’m an internationally published photographer, with most of my work being in the concert space on duty for Heavy Blog is Heavy. I’ve had the pleasure of taking photographs for Metallica, BABYMETAL, Judas Priest, Scorpions, and countless other prolific rock acts from all over the world.
Anyway, I think that’s enough about me. I’m extremely happy to be part of the Escapist Magazine team and excited to be front-and-center for you, the community. I hope that we are able to learn, grow together, and become stronger than ever. The past is the past, but the future is ours to shape!
Feel free to follow me on Twitter if you are so inclined. I look forward to getting to know you all!
