Activision Delays Call of Duty Season Updates Amid Protests in the US

Activision has indefinitely delayed the release for all ongoing seasons of content across the Call of Duty franchise. Affected games include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Call of Duty: Mobile, with the company announcing on Twitter that now is the “time for those speaking up for equality, justice, and change to be seen and heard.” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 was originally set to launch on June 3, and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 was scheduled to launch some time this week.

All seasons of Call of Duty content were to provide various updates to the game, including Captain Price as an operator in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It is also possible that Activision would have used the update to continue unraveling the mystery of its battle royale game’s bunkers, which seem to be hinting at Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. All seasonal updates are likely ready to launch, when Activision believes the time is right.

News of the postponement came after Sony announced it would be holding off its PlayStation 5 games-focused showcase for a later date. These delays come in response to the protests taking place across the United States and around the world in opposition to police brutality in the black community.

Stay tuned for further updates as the situation unfolds.
