Borderlands Cast Pose in Silhouette for First Film Images

Borderlands Cast Pose in Silhouette for First Film Images movie cate blanchett jamie lee curtis claptrap jack black

Ready to see the outline of some really famous people dressed up as Borderlands characters? Then we’ve got a slew of black-and-white images for you. Over the past couple of days the Borderlands film adaptation has been dropping first images of the main cast of the film, but they’ve taken a cue from Zack Snyder and made everything black and white, not to mention entirely in silhouette. The fun started this weekend when Jamie Lee Curtis, who is playing Dr. Patricia Tannis, shared a photo of her co-star Cate Blanchett as Lilith. Then they just kept on coming (see all of them at the end of the article), culminating in today’s reveal of the entire team standing together in silhouette.

Joining Curtis and Blanchett in the photos are Kevin Hart as former soldier of the Crimson Lance Roland, Jack Black as the lovable robot Claptrap, Ariana Greenblatt as explosions orphan Tiny Tina, and Creed II‘s Florian Munteanu as the rampaging Krieg. That’s just scratching the surface of the massive cast for the film, which also features Édgar Ramírez as Atlas, Olivier Richters as Krom, Janina Gavankar as Commander Knoxx, Gina Gershon as Mad Moxxi, Cheyenne Jackson as Jakobs, Charles Babalola as Hammerlock, Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus, Steven Boyer as Scooter, Ryann Redmond as Ellie, Bobby Lee as Larry, and Haley Bennett showing up for a reason we don’t know yet. This movie’s cameos have cameos.

It is obviously hard to tell much from the cast photos because there isn’t much to see, but it’s impressive how much they feel like Borderlands images. The outfits seem kind of big and clunky and… animated? It just looks right. Director Eli Roth hopefully can maintain some of the faithfulness as he brings the movie to the big screen and adds in color. It may be that by the end of the week we’ll get full reveals of everyone, but for now, we’ll just have to settle for this.

Borderlands does not have a release date yet, though we did get an official plot description recently.
