Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Battle Royale Map Seems to Have Leaked

A Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale game mode has all but been confirmed, and now we may have our first look at its map. Infinity Ward and Activision haven’t outright acknowledged the mode’s existence yet, but the game’s Season Two trailer ends by not-so-subtly hinting at a grander map coming down the line. Now, with Season Two freshly underway, YouTuber PrestigeIsKey has seemingly discovered the battle royale mode’s map, apparently called Warzone.

Funnily enough, it seems you can see the map for yourself with a little in-game trick. As described above, if players hop into a private match with CODCaster on Modern Warfare’s new map, Atlas Superstore, they can explore the presumed battle royale map in question. It’s hard to tell which parts of the map will be accessible by the time the mode is ready for release, but it is possible that Atlas Superstore, an airstrip location, and an arena will be featured based on the look we have. Note though that this unfinished version of the map isn’t polished to perfection considering it shouldn’t be accessible.

Activision and Infinity Ward went more in depth with what is coming in Season Two just before its launch. Along with new maps, guns, and Operators, additional unannounced modes are promised to be on the way before the season reaches its end. Whether or not battle royale will be included by then has not been revealed but is pretty likely.

Battle royale first came to Call of Duty with Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode. Since then, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has implemented its Ground War game mode, which is essentially the series’s take on the Battlefield franchise’s large-scale warfare gameplay. However, Ground War is far from a proper battle royale mode, and given the recent popularity of the king-of-the-hill setup, it was only a matter of time before Call of Duty returned to something similar to Blackout.
