Rumors have been swirling about the imminent announcement of a Call of Duty battle royale mode called Warzone, and the details have leaked ahead of a presumed planned reveal later today.

The unveiling comes courtesy of a now removed video from prolific Call of Duty YouTuber Chaos (spotted by Twitter user Nibel), who attended an event hosted by Activision and Infinity Ward.

Unlike the Blackout mode from Black Ops 4, Warzone is set to be a free-to-play, standalone game rather than an add-on to Modern Warfare. According to Chaos, the game will also support cross-platform play.

At present, the game supports up to 150 players, though Chaos hints that Activision is considering increasing that limit to 200.

In a novel twist to the formula, Warzone will include an additional mode that gives players the chance to respawn after their first death by winning a 1-vs-1 battle set in a gulag. However, those who play in teams will also be able to buy revive tokens to bring back their fallen teammates.

A second game mode called Plunder will be focused around collecting money, but Chaos does not go into detail about that.

According to the YouTuber, although every building in the map has been custom designed, the play space will include areas that replicate maps from previous Call of Duty entries, including Terminal, Overgrown, and Broadcast.

No release date for Warzone is mentioned, but Chaos does at one point mention that it can be downloaded “right now,” suggesting that it will likely be available in the very near future.
