Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed to November for Polishing

Cyberpunk 2077 has received yet another delay, now being pushed to November. CD Projekt Red announced the delay on the game’s Twitter account, revealing a Nov. 19, 2020 release date — two months out from its previous Sept. 17, 2020 date. The lengthy statement can be seen below, with the developer claiming that its futuristic dystopian just is “not ready” for a September launch.

The statement from CD Projekt Red’s Marcin Iwiński and Adam Badowski notes they are “fully aware that making such a decision costs us your trust and trading trust for additional time is one of the hardest decisions a game developer can make. And despite we think it’s the right decision for the game, we’d still like to apologize for making you wait longer.”

By the sounds of things, most of Cyberpunk 2077 is ready to go, with things like quests, cutscenes, skills, and items all ready for launch, but there is still much polishing work and balancing to be done.

The developer also recently postponed its Night City Wire event to June 25 from its originally scheduled June 11 date, in support of Black Lives Matter. Hopefully the details shared there will help with the wait to Cyberpunk 2077’s long-awaited launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Nov. 19. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in the works, with the game confirmed to work with Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system.
