A new trailer has confirmed the release date for Deathloop — a date that actually already began circulating yesterday. Developer Arkane Lyon and publisher Bethesda’s time-bending action shooter will launch May 21, 2021, as was suggested by a PlayStation Store leak yesterday. The PlayStation 5 and PC game was delayed this past August following issues presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing it into 2021.
Yesterday’s Deathloop release date leak also revealed bonus content for those that purchase the Deluxe Edition, including three weapons, some skins, two trinkets, and the game’s soundtrack.
Deathloop was first revealed last year at E3 2019 as Arkane and Bethesda’s latest IP. Bethesda describes the FPS as an innovative shooter that features Colt, a killer equipped with unique abilities and weapons that finds himself caught in a time loop. Players join Colt as he tries to stop the endless cycle all while keeping his rival, Julianna, from getting in the way.
The game is a timed console exclusive on PlayStation 5, which will remain the case even though Microsoft is now purchasing Bethesda. While the future of many of Bethesda’s games is now up in the air, it seems certain that players on Xbox Series X | S will have to wait a bit to play the game.
