WandaVision release date 2020 Disney+ MCU Marvel Studios

Some big news for Marvel fans and Disney+ in general, WandaVision is coming a lot sooner than we thought. Disney has announced via Twitter that the show, which is one of multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) TV series and focuses on Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), will be premiering on the streamer in 2020. It had been originally announced for 2021 at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

There aren’t too many details about WandaVision aside from what we’ve already seen and heard. The image in the trailer was the one revealed at SDCC that shows Scarlet Witch and Vision in an idyllic 1950s home with little context or explanation. We do know that the show is going to get weird and connect somehow to the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which Olsen is co-starring in. We also know a good chunk of the cast with Teyonah Parris playing a grown-up Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel and Kat Dennings reprising her role as Darcy Lewis from the Thor films. Randall Park will also play FBI agent Jimmy Woo.

The tweet also included a host of other teases for content coming to the platform, including Toy Story 4Aladdin (the live-action one as you can already watch the animated original), the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the Lizzie McGuire reboot. The bump up in time for release must mean things are going well for the MCU TV show’s production. But it also helps Disney+ land another winner for the year after their flagship show, The Mandalorian, ended, and they have a bit of a gap in major content. Being able to announce two MCU shows (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is landing in fall.) are coming in 2020 is a big win for the streamer.
