Following the surprising reveal of PlayStation 5’s UI earlier today, Sony also sent out emails explaining that accessories for the upcoming console will ship out earlier than expected. In addition, Xbox One was updated with a new dashboard in anticipation of Xbox Series X, among other news. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on Oct. 15, 2020.

PS5 Accessories Will Ship Early from PlayStation Direct (and Select Retailers)

Today, Sony began sending out emails to customers explaining that the PlayStation 5 accessories will ship out early on Oct. 30 — about two weeks prior to the launch of the system. This email pertains to preorders made through Sony directly, but there have been reports that retailers will follow suit as well. According to Wario64 on Twitter, Target is one of the retailers that will ship accessories out on Oct. 30. Some of the accessories available are the new DualSense controller, a charging station, the PS5 camera, and the white Pulse 3D headset.

Xbox’s New Dashboard Is Live Now

In anticipation of Xbox Series X, Microsoft has begun rolling out the new Xbox dashboard — available for Xbox One consoles first. It will serve as a unified experience across Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PC, and mobile. The update should be rolling out starting today and includes performance enhancements, a “new look,” and various new language options, among other features. This update has been available for some time for Xbox Insiders but will now be available to the general public ahead of the Xbox Series X’s release.

Planet Coaster Will Launch Alongside Next-Gen Consoles

Today, developer Frontier Developments announced the release date for the next-gen version of Planet Coaster, and thankfully, we won’t have to wait long. Planet Coaster: Console Edition will launch alongside both new systems — on Nov. 10 and Nov. 12 for Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 respectively. The game features three major modes, including Career, Sandbox, and Challenge, and will cost $49.99. A current-gen version will also be released on Nov. 10, allowing users to upgrade to the next-gen version for free.

Latest eShop Sale Features Discounts on Cloudpunk, BioShock, Oddworld, and More

As if we needed more games to spend money on, Nintendo has a new eShop sale for Switch with a slew of heavy hitters available for a discount. Most notable is the discounted launch price of Cloudpunk, which just came out today and is available for $19.99 (as opposed to $24.99). You’ll also be able to save on numerous 2K games like the BioShock Collection and Borderlands, and other games like Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. Many of these deals end next week, so you’ve got plenty of time to save.

Borderlands 3 Designer’s Cut Will Feature New Skill Trees and New Game Mode

As part of Borderlands 3‘s Season Pass 2, the game will be getting a new Designer’s Cut, featuring additional skill trees for all Vault Hunters and a new game mode called Arms Race and is referred to as “unlike anything” Gearbox has done before. Designer’s Cut will launch on Nov. 10, the same day as Xbox Series X. Beyond that, the game will receive an additional piece of content called Director’s Cut, which will launch in spring of 2020, though Gearbox hasn’t announced what it will include.
