It’s wild to think it’s November already, meaning PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are only a week away. Today had some interesting video game news stories we’ll dive into here. For starters, it was announced that Valve’s Gabe Newell will be sending a garden gnome to space for charity, Sony revealed PlayStation 5 will feature over 180 video guides for Demon’s Souls, and more. Gabe Newell Is Sending a Gnome to Space for Charity
Half-Life 2: Episode Two featured an achievement called Little Rocket Man, which required you to take a garden gnome, Gnome Chompski, from the start of the game all the way to the end, where you’d place it in a rocket and send it to space. Soon, that achievement will come to life, as it was announced that Valve’s Gabe Newell will be sending Gnome Chompski to space for charity, in partnership with Rocket Lab. For everyone that watches the launch live (or within 24 hours), Newell will donate $1 to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Starship Children’s Hospital.

Warzone Won’t Shift Engines After Black Ops Cold War’s Release
We know the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will have integration with the free-to-play Warzone, but we recently learned that the battle royale’s engine will remain intact. According to the art lead at Activision known as ShutterMunster on ResetEra, “There will not be an engine shift for WZ,” in reference to the integration with Black Ops Cold War. Many breathed a sigh of relief with this news, but it will be interesting to see how players will take to the different engines across Cold War and Warzone — the latter of which is built from 2019’s Modern Warfare.

Today, Microsoft highlighted many of the apps that will be available on Xbox Series X and Series S at launch. The list is as follows:

Though, as noted by Microsoft (relayed to us by Eurogamer), that isn’t the complete list. Microsoft also explained that the Microsoft Store is now faster than ever before and that a new Entertainment block has been integrated into the Xbox UI across Xbox One, Series X, and Series S.

PS5’s DualSense Works on Nintendo Switch (with 8BitDo Adapter)
The PlayStation 5 DualSense controller won’t work on PlayStation 4, but it has been (kind of) confirmed to work with Nintendo Switch, as shown by Twitter user @BrokenGamezHDR. To utilize your DualSense with Switch, you’ll need an adapter sold by 8BitDo, which functions with Bluetooth and connects to many modern controllers. On top of that, you’ll also be able to use your DualSense with PlayStation 3 — as shown by YouTuber Mystic.

PS5 Will Feature Over 180 Video Guides to Help with Demon’s Souls
One of PlayStation 5’s main features, as shown during its UI reveal, is the ability to watch useful video guides built within the system — freeing you from having to look up help on Google. Today, the Washington Post published an article relaying word that PS5 will feature over 180 video guides for the upcoming Demon’s Souls. According to the game’s creative director, Gavin Moore, the videos will vary in depth and will be available all from the system’s interface. It’s unclear how abundant these video guides will be with other games on PlayStation 5.
