What a busy day it’s been. When you’re finished reading about the recent Far Cry 6 leak and Matt Reeves’ new Gotham detective show for HBO Max, there’s a lot more to catch up on. For starters, WayForward’s new project was revealed to be a Bakugan game, a classic Tomb Raider collection might be on the way, the Monster Hunter film has suffered a delay, and more. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on July 10, 2020.
WayForward’s New Game Is Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia
As part of today’s Nintendo Treehouse Live presentation, it was revealed that WayForward’s new project is called Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia. Of course, that probably isn’t what you were hoping for, but it’ll nonetheless launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch this Nov. 3.
WayForward is a masterclass of a developer with a rich history. You might know the team for its work on the Shantae games or the DuckTales remaster, among other projects. This Bakugan project is an action RPG that expands upon the story from the TV series.

Crysis Remastered Coming to Switch on Time After All, Other Platforms Still Delayed
Following the mixed messaging of Crysis Remastered‘s release date, it seems we now have a bit more concrete information. The good news is that Switch owners can grab their copies of Crysis Remastered on its originally intended release date, July 23. The odd thing is that the game on other platforms won’t be out until a later, unknown date, leaving fans to question the quality of the upcoming Switch version. It’s relatively unheard of to see a third-party game launch on Switch first ahead of other platforms, so we’ll have to wait to see how it does later this month.
You may have seen our last update about the Crysis Remastered release, and we have good news for you:
We can confirm that Crysis will still be coming to Nintendo Switch on July 23rd!

A Classic Tomb Raider Collection Might Be Headed Our Way
We might be getting more Tomb Raider, at least if a recent trademark filed by publisher Square Enix is any indication. The trademark in question is for “T.R.U.E. Tomb Raider Ultimate Experience,” which will supposedly bundle the classic Tomb Raider games, along with entries from the 2000s and the recent Crystal Dynamics installments.
It’s worth mentioning this collection isn’t officially confirmed, but an alleged leaked promo image seems to point to its existence. The image claims the game will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia on Aug. 27.
Dead Cells Prisoner’s Edition Will Now Launch in August 2020
Originally, the hefty Dead Cells Prisoner’s Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 was supposed to release at the end of June and was going to feature the game’s Bad Seed DLC as a separate download code. We now know it’s been delayed to the end of August, but it will include the DLC on the cartridge and disc now, due to “unprecedented demand” from the community. The package has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but at least we won’t have to wait long to pick it up.
Dead Cells Prisoner’s Edition is priced at $109.99 and includes the following:
- 22 cm / 8.5″ Prisoner statue
- Metal tin
- Vinyl soundtrack
- GOTY version of game, packed with all DLC
- Exclusive pins
- PVC keyring
- Art card
Monster Hunter Film Delayed
As with many films and other projects in the entertainment industry, the Monster Hunter film has been delayed, likely due to COVID-19. It was originally due to release on Sept. 4, 2020 but will now launch on April 23, 2021. The film is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, who worked on the Resident Evil films, which are also Capcom properties.
The Monster Hunter movie stars Milla Jovovich, who was the leading role in the Resident Evil films as well, and action star Tony Jaa. Video game films are typically poorly received, so we’ve got our fingers crossed this delay will help improve its quality.
