The month just started, and there’s already a ton of video game news to get through. Earlier today, we got a look at Marvel’s Avengers‘ new character Kate Bishop, Capcom confirmed Resident Evil Village will be shown at Tokyo Game Show 2020, and more. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on Sept. 1, 2020.
Hawkeye’s Protégé, Kate Bishop, Is Joining Marvel’s Avengers as a Playable Character
During today’s War Table event, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics showed off a new character who will be joining the Marvel’s Avengers roster, Kate Bishop. She will be the first new playable hero added following the game’s launch and serves as Hawkeye’s protégé. Bishop is being voiced by the legendary Ashly Burch who has been featured in dozens of games throughout the years. It’s unclear when Bishop will be added, but we do know she will be joined by a new villain to take down.
This won’t be all we see of Kate Bishop outside the comics either. She’s expected to be a main character in the Hawkeye Disney+ series.
Resident Evil Village Will Be Shown at Tokyo Game Show 2020
Earlier this summer, Capcom had stated that more Resident Evil Village would be shown off in August. At the end of the month, the community had pointed out that we had not gotten the update in August as was intended, but Capcom stepped in to address its absence.
The company tweeted out that it acknowledges the lack of RE Village news in August but that the game will be making an appearance later this month during Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online. You can catch a new look at Resident Evil Village on Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. Japan time (9 a.m. ET on Sept. 25). The game will also specifically appear at Capcom TGS Live 2020, a “two-day live web broadcast” simultaneously presented in Japanese and English on Sept. 26 – 27.

Dead by Daylight Will Feature a Free Next-Gen Upgrade
Joining the list of games that will feature free next-generation upgrades is Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetric survival horror game, Dead by Daylight. The developer says the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X version will serve as a remastered edition and will run at 4K and 60 frames per second. The developer also boasts new lighting and visual effects that make use of the upgraded hardware. However, the current-gen versions of the game will likewise receive visual updates this year.
It’s still unknown when we’ll get to play Dead by Daylight on the next-generation systems, but both are due out this holiday, likely in November.

Final Fantasy XV and Resident Evil 7 Headline September’s PS Now Lineup
Sony has unveiled the PlayStation Now lineup for the month of September 2020, and it comes packinga solid list of games. The lineup is as follows:
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
- Final Fantasy XV
- WWE 2K19
- Observation
According to the PlayStation.Blog, Resident Evil 7 will be available until Nov. 30, and Final Fantasy XV will be playable until March 1, 2021. PS Now is a subscription service that allows you to download or stream a variety of PlayStation games, with a library of over 800 titles across different generations of Sony consoles.

Nintendo Finally Allows You to Cancel eShop Preorders
As announced by the official Japanese Nintendo website today, you can finally cancel your preorders on the Nintendo eShop up to seven days prior to the game’s launch. The original system charged you as soon as you preordered the game, but now it won’t charge you until a week prior to the game’s release. This feature has been highly requested, and it’s a shame it took this long to be implemented, but nonetheless, you can rest easy knowing you’ve got a bit more wiggle room when preordering Nintendo Switch games on the eShop.
