News You Might’ve Missed on 9/15/20: Rocket League F2P & Twin Mirror Release Dates, Fall Guys Update, & More

The video game news just keeps coming, and today is no exception. We finally know when we’ll be able to get our hands on Ghostrunner, Rocket League‘s free-to-play conversion and Dontnod Entertainment’s Twin Mirror both got a release date, the latest Fall Guys update has gone live, and more. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on Sept. 15, 2020.

Rocket League Will Be Free to Play Later This Month

Earlier this summer, Psyonix announced that Rocket League will be going free to play, and it now has a release date. As announced via a blog post, Rocket League will convert to free to play on Sept. 23. Along with this new version of the game comes the Llama-Rama event, which will be detailed at a later date. The free-to-play update will also feature cross-platform progression, new items, and a Support-a-Creator program, among many other new features.

Twin Mirror Will Launch This December

Twin Mirror from Life is Strange developer Dontnod Entertainment has gotten a release date. The narrative-driven adventure game will launch on Dec. 1 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game will put you in the shoes of an investigative journalist as you attempt to uncover a mystery, but the character has to deal with his other while doing it. It looks to be a game in the same vein as Telltale’s The Walking Dead or other story-focused adventures from Dontnod. Twin Mirror‘s launch date announcement trailer can be seen below.

Fall Guys’ Mid-Season Update Gets Big Yeetus

Need more Fall Guys in your life? Well, developer Mediatonic has released a new update for the mega-popular battle royale platformer. It comes with more round variation, server stability, smoother gameplay, action binds for mouse buttons, a better anti-cheat system for PC, and a new hammer obstacle called Big Yeetus, which is pretty on-brand for Fall Guys. We’ll also be getting a new season of content in the near future. Check out the update’s trailer in the tweet below.

Sony Denies Reports That It Has Decreased the Amount of PlayStation 5 to Be Produced

Recently, rumors pertaining to Sony’s production of PlayStation 5 were circulating, alleging that the company had decreased the amount of systems that were to be produced. However, it turns out this rumor is apparently not true, according to Sony itself. In response to the report, Sony told Gamesindustry.biz “while we do not release details related to manufacturing, the information provided by Bloomberg is false. We have not changed the production number for PlayStation 5 since the start of mass production.” This hopefully means it won’t be difficult to get your hands on a PS5 this holiday.

Latest Nintendo Switch Update Bans Racial Hate Terms

The latest Nintendo Switch update is mostly a stability patch, but it also bans certain racially charged words or acronyms. Players can no longer include words like “nazi,” “KKK,” or “ACAB” in their usernames. It also prohibits the use of “COVID” and “coronavirus.” If you try to include one of these words or phrases following the update, you’ll be met with a “this nickname contains inappropriate language” message. Update 10.2.0 is live now.
