Video game news 9/3/20: Super Mario All-Stars on Nintendo Switch Online, Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., Ys Origin Switch release date, baldur's gate 3 length and price

The rumors were true: Super Mario 3D All-Stars is indeed a real thing and will be launching later this month, as announced during a special Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct today alongside other announcements like Super Mario All-Stars on Nintendo Switch Online and the coming of Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. Aside from that, we’ve got news about Baldur’s Gate III early access content and more. Here’s the video game news you might’ve missed on Sept. 3, 2020.

Baldur’s Gate III Will Launch in Early Access for $60 and Include 25 Hours of Content

While we don’t know when the full version of Baldur’s Gate III will launch, we do know it will be releasing in early access form on Sept. 30. Today, as revealed by Director of Publishing at Larian Studios Michael Douse, the game will cost $59.99 to purchase in early access, but it will come packed with 25 hours’ worth of content. The full version will, of course, be “a lot longer.” Douse encourages players not to feel pressure to buy it in early access and notes that the game will “not disappear.”

Super Mario All-Stars Launches for Nintendo Switch Online Today

We know we’re getting the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection later this month, but today, the original Super Mario All-Stars launched for Nintendo Switch. That’s right, the version that originally released for SNES is out on Switch today, but only for those with Nintendo Switch Online. It’s not available separately from the subscription service.

Super Mario All-Stars includes Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels (original SMB2 in Japan), and Super Mario Bros. 3, all revamped from their original NES/Famicom incarnations with 16-bit graphics.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Had the Biggest Xbox Game Pass for PC Launch Ever

The highly acclaimed Microsoft Flight Simulator has done incredibly. In fact, today, Microsoft announced it had the biggest Xbox Game Pass for PC launch ever, reaching 1 million unique players in just a couple weeks. The company also gave some interesting stats about the game, mentioning that 26 million flights had been taken and 1 billion miles had been flown in total. Microsoft Flight Simulator garnered positive reviews upon release and is one of the year’s highest-rated games.

Ys Origin Will Launch for Nintendo Switch Next Month

Nintendo Switch is finally getting Ys Origin, and its release date isn’t too far off. Today, as announced via publisher Dotemu, Ys Origin will launch for Nintendo Switch on Oct. 1. It originally released in 2006 for PC and came to other platforms like PS Vita (RIP), PlayStation 4, and even Xbox One. As the game suggests, Ys Origin is a prequel to the beloved action RPG series. Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. Arrives This Fall

On Nov. 13, the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. handheld device will hit store shelves, and it looks pretty awesome. The Game & Watch system includes the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, and a Mario version of Ball, plus a digital clock and “35 little touches.” It’s currently unavailable to preorder, but if you visit the official site, you can see that preorder details are coming soon. An announcement trailer can be seen below. The device will retail for $49.99.
