Featured User Group: PRIATE and Asylum Open Mic Part Two

image

As I mentioned in the last article, we are featured two user groups simultaneously. As a recap:
Asylum Open Mic and P.R.I.A.T.E are two huge user groups based purely around social interaction. Some share users, some of the users have rivalries, and some users are best friends. However, they both claim to be “kind.” I thought that given the chance, they would jump at each others’ throats, but that turned out to be a false assumption!

I interviewed both user groups separately and then gave them a chance to “critique” the other group’s answers. They did so with glee, and what arose was a … well, just see for yourself.

This week, we are showing the interview answers from Asylum Open Mic and the inserted comments from a couple the admins from P.R.I.A.T.E.:

  1. Why was Asylum Open Mic founded?

    Neonbob:
Because Souplex wanted a place reserved for sheer babble that had no place on the forums, I suppose.
I’m not using it as a tracking mechanism at all. Promise.

    Souplex:
Boredom really. it was at a point when there wasn’t much going on, and I realized I could make a usergroup, so I felt why not?

    Manaman:
One bright sunny night in the South Sea, a man named Souplex looked upon the world and was distraught that so many where so sane. Seeing that the world was in peril this man built the asylum brick by brick, stacking them high into the sky for twenty years. One cold bitter afternoon in the outskirts of New York the Asylum quietly opened and the first of many wandered inside, destined to be cured of their sanity. Thusly Souplex created the first case of insanity so that the world would know variety.

  • What do you see as the future of the group?

    Neonbob:
Hopefully, more people will join it and continue the grand tradition of coming up with off the wall stuff…yeah, I’m not good at guessing this kinda stuff.

    Souplex:
We’re huge. (And we have a large userbase) Fun, an audience, shameless plugs.

    Manaman:
The goats where a nice touch, but I really am not sure what to do with them. They get in the way sometimes as well. I guess they are not a nice touch after all, but I didn’t want to say they where a bad touch and confuse people.

  • Anything else you would like to add?

    Neonbob:
Well, yes. I would love to add five tons of eyes to a cauldron of hopping fingers, but I doubt that will happen for a good while.

  • Souplex:
    Yes.
There are far too many groups that came after the Asylum that have the same goal: nothing. Most of them are mostly made up of Asylum members, and the Asylum is by far the largest. Every single on of them hurts all the others by diverting posts away from each other. We must unify for the good of all!
And now I leave you with this song. Thank you for your time.

    Manaman:
How come Kuliani gets to disappear to the beach and I don’t? Something about the beach just draws me in. It might just be the swimsuits, but I like to think it’s the crabs.

Aside from that all I wanted to point out that I tried to answer the questions as well as I could within the spirit of The Asylum. Which is a fun, zany, quirky, and open social environment where nearly anything goes as long as it adds to the overall enjoyment of everyone there.
