Final Fantasy VII: The Last Soldier Battle Royale & Series Compilation Ever Crisis Head to Mobile

In addition to the absurdly titled PlayStation 5 upgrade of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Square Enix today announced two other new games in the ever-expanding universe for mobile devices: Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis.

Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier is pitched as a prequel to the main game. It will be a battle royale taking place in Midgar 30 years before Final Fantasy VII and based around the creation of the SOLDIER force. Coming to iOS and Android platforms, the game looks to mix genre staples of gunplay and survival with Final Fantasy‘s magic, monsters, and summons. It is slated to launch some time this year.

The other announcement is Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, which is a mobile remake of the entire FFVII timeline that will eventually include Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. It also seems to be related to The First Soldier in some way, with Kazushige Nojima writing new story elements centering on the origins of SOLDIER. Ever Crisis will be a “chapter-structured single player experience” set to launch in 2022.

Both Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier and Ever Crisis will be “free downloads with in-app purchases” on mobile.

And if you still need more FFVII, Square Enix has you covered with the imminent arrival of the 156 songs from the Final Fantasy VII Remake Original Soundtrack on music streaming services including Apple Music, Spotify, and Amazon Music Unlimited.
