Square Enix’s narrative-driven adventure game, Project Athia, has been given an official name: Forspoken. The name update and more footage came during today’s Square Enix Presents, where the publisher discussed the progress Final Fantasy XV developer Luminous Productions has made on the upcoming game. This new announcement also put the spotlight on actor Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels), who will perform the role of the game’s protagonist, Frey Holland, as players venture through the land of Athia. Frey is an “ordinary young woman who must harness her magical abilities to survive.” See everything the presentation showed of Forspoken in the footage below.

We first learned about Forspoken when it was revealed as Project Athia in 2020. The game has a universe whose creation was led by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story writer Gary Whitta, and it will be exclusive to PC and PlayStation 5 for two years. Little else about Forspoken is known, and with the release window still set for 2022, it might be some time before we get to see the whole picture.

Today’s Square Enix Presents is the publisher’s first attempt at providing viewers with a digital showcase of its upcoming titles. Other than the news on Forspoken, we learned that Life is Strange: True Colors launches later this year. Plus, we also got to see our first official look at Tomb Raider: Definitive Survivor Trilogy.
