The emphasis on nature painting Ghost of Tsushima’s settings should come as no surprise to those following the lead-up to the game’s release. During a May 2020 State of Play presentation, Sucker Punch and Sony detailed many of the game’s gameplay features, including a reliance on nature to guide players on their journey. Additionally, the event went in depth to describe how players can utilize different samurai combat stances when tearing through enemies. Part of the gameplay loop will also see players sneaking into enemy territory, where stealth and quick reflexes will be necessary for survival.

Ghost of Tsushima was first set to arrive on June 26 before being delayed to July due to the ongoing effects of the coronavirus pandemic. The Last of Us Part II, Sony’s other major summer exclusive, was also hit with a delay for the same reason but eventually managed to launch this past June 19.
