Independent Game of the Year Announced

Gumboy Crazy Adventures, now available on Steam, has won Game Tunnel’s Independent Game of the Year award.

Game Tunnel, a web site which has provided news and reviews for the independent games scene since 2002, has announced that Gumboy Crazy Adventures is the overall winner of their 2006 Independent Game of the Year awards.

According to the press release, “Gumboy‘s visual style captivated reviewers at Game Tunnel almost as much as the innovative gameplay where the character rolls, floats and bobs his way to victory through a carefully-crafted and artfully-drawn fantasy world.”

Independent games are becoming more and more popular now that the internet has become a viable means for distributing games. Small publishers are now able to self-publish innovative titles that contain experimental elements not present in most traditionally published titles.

Gumboy Crazy Adventures is available on Steam for $14.95, and a full list of the award winning games is available at the GameTunnel site.
