Little Devil Inside Makes a Surprise Appearance at Sony’s PS5 Event

Remember Little Devil Inside? No? That’s okay; no one really did. The game was kickstarted back in 2015, and if you weren’t one of the backers you probably didn’t pay much attention to it. That is — until Sony featured it today on its big PlayStation 5 reveal show about halfway through.

Slammed between some of the biggest games of the year, Little Devil Inside still stood out with some fantastic art direction and a quasi-Breath of Wild action/adventure vibe to it. According to the game’s Kickstarter page, “This game is not just about killing arch-demons and saving the world. Take in the atmosphere and live a realistic life in an unrealistic world. This is a game that tells stories about people with ‘unusual’ jobs such as hunting monsters and what happens in their everyday life doing so.”

That comes across pretty clearly in the trailer, which somewhat oddly intercuts moments of adventure with an old man going about his daily activities. The game bills itself as an exploration-focused survival action RPG that sends you on great adventures and then returns you home to live out your ordinary life. The elderly man in the trailer may perhaps be the professor who sends you out on quests to do research on mysterious happenings going on in the world. The game’s style appears anything but ordinary, with a surreal and endearing feel all at the same time.

Korea-based developer Neostream announced on its Kickstarter page that the game would be a timed exclusive on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, though it is intended to launch concurrently on PC. Backers of the project, who have obviously waited quite some time for the game, were not responding to the exclusivity announcement well given the game was touted as multiplatform when first funded.
