The long-rumored 2.5D Metroid Nintendo Switch game is real, and it’s called Metroid Dread (recalling a name used for an un-released game years ago). Revealed during today’s E3 2021 Nintendo Direct, the game looks to hearken back to the classic Metroid experience, similar to what we saw with Metroid: Samus Returns for Nintendo 3DS in 2017. However, that game was a remake, while this new entry will be a completely new entry. While it’s not exactly the Metroid Prime 4 news we’ve all been hoping for, this should at least give fans something to chew on when it launches Oct. 8, 2021.
