Persona 5 Scramble New Trailer Shows Off the Full Game Experience

Atlus has debuted a new trailer for Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, providing a glimpse at several new elements being introduced in this sequel.

At over three minutes long, the video offers an extended look at the game’s story and mechanics, though non-Japanese speakers will likely struggle to follow. However, the underlying premise of a Tokyo overtaken by a supernatural force is plain to see.

All viewers will be able to recognize some of the action-oriented new features, derived from the cross-over with Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors franchise. Notably, the trailer includes several scenes of musou action, as well as exploration. Despite new additions, brief glances at the social-sim elements of the Persona series do make an appearance, as spied in the past.

Development of this new addition to the series has been shared between Atlus’s internal P-Studio and Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, the latter of which has previously been responsible for Nintendo cross-overs Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors. Unlike those games, Persona 5 Scramble appears to be a direct sequel, taking place six months after its predecessor, with that relationship hinted at by the appearance of the number 2 during the logo presentation in the above trailer.

Persona 5 Scramble is a separate project from Persona 5 Royal, an expanded version of the 2017 game that is set to launch worldwide for PlayStation 4 on March 31. Persona 5 Scramble currently has no Western release date but will launch in Japan on February 20 for the Switch and PS4.
