Just in time for Valentine’s Day, SugarDVD shows that couples enjoy BDSM porn more on the PS4 than Xbox One.
Ah, Valentine’s Day! That time of year where you get together with a special someone and watch BDSM porn on your favorite console. Okay, maybe that’s not the first thought that comes to mind – but according to porn streaming giant SugarDVD, it’s a statistically significant one. And it would know: The company’s app has been installed on most major consoles with plans to branch out into Oculus Rift and SteamOS devices. Now, in recognition of Valentine’s Day and the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation, SugarDVD has released new stats on BDSM searches by console users.
First, the general info: BDSM viewings have increased across all devices by a staggering 78%, with “couples” and “spanking” being search terms of choice. This is reflective of a more general interest in BDSM – the website has seen a huge spike in the topic since Fifty Shades launched. What’s more, the audience for these videos aren’t your stereotypical male gamers, as women actually make up the majority of users – at least on the PS4. SugarDVD’s studies also suggest that 86% of BDSM streamers have actually tried it for themselves, although how exactly it got those results isn’t clear.
But that’s predictable – you want to know which console carries the whip and paddle, don’t you? Well, much like overall porn usage, the winner is the PlayStation 4, where users searched for BDSM videos 1.8 times more than Xbox One fans. Interestingly, SugarDVD suspects this is because PS4 owners are more likely to watch as couples than Xbox users. Meanwhile, on the mobile device front, Android hardware tracked down BDSM videos 1.2 times more than iPad and iOS.
