Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is less than two months away on PlayStation 5, and Insomniac Games has released a new gameplay trailer showcasing the newly named female Lombax, Rivet, as well as Dr. Nefarious, one of the series’s returning villains. The video itself looks just as chaotic and interesting as with previous games but adds in the franchise’s most crisp visuals yet, and if you watch closely, you can see the PlayStation 5’s lightning-fast load times at work, too.
It looks like players will be hopping between dimensions with Ratchet, Clank, and Rivet to stop the evil doctor from taking his place as an interdimensional emperor when Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launches on PlayStation 5 come June 11. Insomniac creative director Marcus Smith shared more information at the PlayStation.Blog, revealing that Devo lead singer and co-founder Mark Mothersbaugh is Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart‘s composer. If you’re unfamiliar with his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-nominated group, then you’ll surely recognize his contributions to the Jak & Daxter games, original three Crash Bandicoot titles, and Thor: Ragnarok.
Smith also gave us a better look at the contents of the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with a bundle of cosmetics for Ratchet and Rivet.
Alongside the reveal of today’s Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart gameplay trailer and Rivet, Sony announced that its next State of Play broadcast is set to take place on April 29. The presentation is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. ET and will feature more than 15 additional minutes of gameplay from Rift Apart, along with updates on “a pair of upcoming indie titles.”
