Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Is Not Coming to PlayStation 4

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will not be coming to PlayStation 4. Developer Insomniac Games cleared up the topic on Twitter, confirming that the next entry in its intergalactic platformer action series will be coming exclusively to PlayStation 5. So far, Sony has not been completely clear about which games will be coming to its next-gen platform.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is joined by Demon’s Souls and Destruction AllStars as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Other titles, such as Horizon Forbidden West and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, will be available to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners when each game launches. Sony has recently begun exploring the possibility of bringing more of its first-party games to PC as well, further complicating the question of exclusivity as time goes on.

Insomniac Games first revealed Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart during a PlayStation 5 event this past June. Since then, we’ve learned that the game’s interesting female Lombax character will indeed be playable, and we also got an extended look at some of the Insomniac title’s gameplay during Gamescom 2020.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart still has no specific release date announced yet, though Insomniac did state that the game is slated to make its way to buyers within the PlayStation 5’s “launch window.”
