The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Delayed to 2022

Daedalic Entertainment’s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been delayed to 2022. The story-driven stealth-action adventure game was originally set to launch sometime this year, but as detailed in a PR statement, plans have changed following a new co-publishing and distribution agreement between Daedalic Entertainment and publisher Nacon. Both companies say that the schedule change is the result of a desire to meet expectations.

“The two companies decided to join forces to ensure that the game will meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles,” Nacon said in the statement. “The universe will be faithfully represented thanks to the partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises, the company that holds the adaptation rights to the novel series by J.R.R. Tolkien.”

We found out about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum in 2019 when it was revealed for consoles and PC. Since its official reveal, we’ve seen screenshots that paint Middle-earth in a (mostly) bleak light, in addition to a teaser trailer that arrived in August of last year.

Delay or not, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is planned to launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
