The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter Launched by PlatinumGames

The Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter PlatinumGames Platinum Games

The rumors were right as PlatinumGames has launched a Kickstarter campaign today for The Wonderful 101: Remastered after a few days of speculation. As the name suggests, it is an updated port of the Hideki Kamiya-directed action game that was previously released as a Wii U exclusive. The goal of the Kickstarter was originally $50,010, and it has already smashed through it as the campaign has already raised over $80,000 since it launched. Those that back the game at the appropriate tier will receive an exclusive cover for the game and will receive any downloadable content unlocked via stretch goals at no extra cost.

Currently, the game is only confirmed to be coming to Nintendo Switch, although both Steam and PlayStation 4 versions are noted as stretch goals if the crowdfunding campaign hits $250,000 and $500,000 respectively. Beyond getting a copy of The Wonderful 101: Remastered, players can also get some unique rewards such as getting tweeted at and blocked by Kamiya on Twitter, the soundtrack on vinyl, stickers, a comic and art book, and much more. The most expensive tier, which includes everything, costs $5,071, although a digital version of the game will only cost about $36.

Just like the Wii U original, The Wonderful 101: Remastered will have players controlling an entire team of superheroes, which, as the title alludes to, totals up to 101 members. Players will guide Wonder-Red and the rest of the crew as they go up against an alien threat and attempt to keep Earth safe. PlatinumGames lists the estimated delivery for the remastered game as April 2020, though additional backer rewards may arrive at a later date.
