TimeSplitters Rewind has received its first official update in almost a year, announcing a change to its release model in a new video.
Fans anxious to get their hands on the project after its already seven-year-long development process may find solace in the team’s decision to change the release model. The team is now aiming to release a small though “feasible” initial selection of content before adding more maps and additional content later.
The update mentions that, after scrapping portions of its previous work due to compatibility and system requirement target issues, the team has now completed the blockout phase for half of the maps from the first TimeSplitters, including Chinese, Tomb, Compound, and more.
However, the update makes no mention of which maps are currently expected to arrive as part of the initial release, whenever that occurs. As stated in the video, the team is not prepared to suggest a release window at the present time, after missing previous deadlines.
TimeSplitters Rewind is a fan-led “greatest hits” redo of the much-loved shooter franchise, which aims to bring together maps, characters, and weapons from the first three games in the series.
