What are Tributes and Bargains in Diablo 4?

Tributes and Bargains are special consumables in Diablo 4 that you can use to extract additional rewards from the Undercity dungeon. 

The Undercity is a specialised dungeon like the Artificer’s Pit, where you have to clear multiple rooms and defeat the boss at the end within a set amount of time. Your rewards will depend on the time you take and the specific tiers you reach.

Diablo 4 Undercity Tributes Explained

Tributes are a special currency in the Undercity that will determine the rewards you receive for completing the activity. These Tributes have a special requirement that you need to meet during the run if you want to receive the additional rewards that the Tributes promise. 

There are three different types of Tributes that you can use in the Diablo 4 Undercity activity. They are: 

• Tribute of Growth: Rewards additional Experience.
• Tribute of Harmony: Guarantees Rune drops.
• Tribute of Radiance: Guarantees Ancestral Legendary item drops.

How to Get Tributes

Tributes are random drops you get by defeating powerful enemies around the Sanctuary, especially within Nightmare Dungeons. The best source of this currency is, however, Whisper Caches, which you can earn from the Tree of Whispers. These Tributes you get are completely random, though, and there’s no way to target farm a specific tribute. 

What are Bargains in Diablo 4?

Bargains add fresh modifiers to your Undercity runs, further modifying the loot that the Tribute has already promised you. This is a nice way to target farm Legendary Aspects in Diablo 4. Tributes allow you to narrow down what type of reward you want to collect, whereas Bargains can help you narrow down what rolls you’d like on that item. 

For example, if your tribute guarantees Legendary Arms, you can use a Bargain to focus on Offensive Aspects and Skill Ranks on that piece of gear. 

How to Get More Bargains

Bargains are tied to the Tributes that you have. The Bargain glyph will activate whenever you place a Tribute in the Undercity launch window. Here you can select the one you want to use with your run. 

While these Tributes and Bargains get you additional rewards, you won’t receive anything in return if you fail to meet their requirements.
