What is Frost Armor in Destiny 2?

Frost Armor is a stacking buff that you get in Destiny 2, so here's a list of all the sources through which you can get it.

Frost Armor is one of the many buffs you will encounter while playing Destiny 2. You can unlock this buff from multiple sources, but you’ll have to build into it to get most of the benefits out of it.

As you go through the different difficulty levels and activities, the challenge you face will also increase. For example, the Explorer difficulty in Rite of the Nine has very little to no use of additional buffs at all. To complete Ultimatum, however, you’ll need to use all the buffs and boosts you can get.

How to Get Frost Armor in Destiny 2

You can get Frost Armor using either the Stasis subclass or Prismatic, but if you’re using the latter, you’ll have to have a particular Fragment equipped. Here are all the sources that give you the buff:

  • Grim Harvest Aspect (Hunter)
  • Glacial Harvest Aspect (Warlock)
  • Tectonic Harvest Aspect (Titan)
  • Whisper of Fractures Fragment

No matter which Aspect you use, based on your class, you’ll gain Frost Armor whenever you pick up Stasis Shards. The Whisper of Fractures Fragment also grants Frost Armor when you shatter a Stasis Crystal. These crystals can be created in various ways, such as using a Glacial Grenade or defeating enemies with a Stasis weapon with the Headstone perk.

When using Prismatic, equipping the Facet of Purpose will give you Frost Armor whenever you pick up an Orb of Power, but only if you’re using the Stasis super. This applies to all three classes in Destiny 2. However, if you want to access Prismatic, you’ll have to own The Final Shape expansion.

What Does Frost Armor Do in Destiny 2?

In other words, Frost Armor is a huge coating of ice that your character gets. This coating lasts around 10 seconds and reduces the damage you take from enemy attacks. It’s a stacking buff, and under normal circumstances, it’ll stack five times only.

However, if you use the Whisper of Rime Fragment with your build, this buff will stack up to 10 times. You’ll get a 4.5 percent damage reduction for every stack you have. So, with 10 stacks, you’ll get a whopping 45 percent damage reduction, the same amount you get for having 10 stacks of Woven Mail with the Strand subclass equipped in Destiny 2
