World of Warcraft Midnight platforms
While some members of the community were convinced that Midnight would be the perfect time for WoW to make its console debut, the title will remain a PC exclusive for now. This article will be updated if anything changes in this regard.
WoW Midnight gameplay and trailer analysis
Gamescom 2025 proved to be illuminating for the WoW community, highlighting the slew of new features and mechanics on their way with Midnight.
A jaw-dropping new cinematic was also revealed by the World of Warcraft developer team, highlighting the looming presence of the Void and Xal’atath, alongside beloved characters Lady Liadrin and Lor’themar.
One of the biggest additions that WoW Midnight will make to the game is the long-awaited player housing mechanic.
Shown off in a teaser trailer on November 13, 2024, player housing is due to make its appearance in the next entry of the Worldsoul Saga – and players are already anxious to see it in action. Thankfully, the early access for WoW Midnight‘s player housing will start on December 3, 2025.
While some community members are a little concerned that player housing may feel like garrisons from the divisive Warlords of Draenor expansion, the general response to this reveal trailer was positive.
Further details have been appearing consistently ever since the trailer aired, with the WoW team explaining that there’ll be two zones for houses at the start of the expansion, with both private and public neighborhoods available.
Additionally, there’ll be monthly activities for neighbors to take part in called endeavors. There isn’t too much information about endeavors yet, but from what’s been shared, they’ll scale with the size of the neighborhood and provide the chance to nab interesting decorations.
What is WoW Midnight about?
While the full expansion storyline is still a mystery, the general themes for WoW Midnight were hinted at during the BlizzCon 2023 Worldsoul Saga segment and expanded upon during the various Gamescom 2025 showcases for the expansion.
Players will be heading to Quel’Thalas during the expansion, which is the home of the Blood Elves. Alongside this, the zones Eversong, Zul’Aman, Harandar, and Voidstorm will be open for exploration.
Additionally, the Void will play a crucial part in the story, forcing its way into Azeroth and attempting to “snuff out the light of the Sunwell” to send the world spiralling into darkness. This is all while players will be attempting to reunite the different Elven tribes across the continents.
It’s not just the story that’ll be impacted by the Void, either – a new Demon Hunter spec will be available in Midnight, called Devourer. Devourer Demon Hunters will take their power from the Void instead of Fel Energy.
It was hinted at that “things may not go to plan” in the overarching Midnight storyline during BlizzCon, which has some fans wondering whether the final raid may feature the heroes losing, or if the storyline may end on a cliff-hanger.
Will there be any new races or classes in Midnight?
Along with the new Devourer Demon Hunter specialization, players will also be able to play as the Haranir for the first time.
Hailing from the mushroom-dotted forests of Harandar, the Haranir are a mysterious group that’ll be available to unlock as an Allied Race. They’ll be able to slot into a variety of classes, including Druid, Shaman, and Priest.
The Haranir made their first appearance in The War Within, introduced as a group of characters that revere nature. They appear to be distrustful of outsiders and are concerned with protecting the earth, and some folk have theorized that they’re tied to Elune in some manner.
Not much else is known about them right now, but they will likely be unlockable via the main Midnight campaign. This article will be updated with confirmation once more information about the Haranir becomes available.
World of Warcraft Midnight will be the second addition to the Worldsoul Saga trilogy, and based on what’s been shown off already, it’s looking monumental. With a Void-rich story, a new playable race, and the anxiously awaited housing feature, it’s set to be an unforgettable expansion.
