The Great Hibiscus is a rare herb in Monster Hunter Wilds, but it’s one of the few that you won’t come across in the wild. Like some decorations, even this item is restricted to RNG, but there are some ways to boost the acquisition of this item.
Unlike most herbs, the Great Hibiscus is an important ingredient when it comes to crafting a particular armor set. This set has some decent skills but is easily outclassed by the Gore Magala and the Zoh Shia set in the endgame.
How to Get Great Hibiscus in Monster Hunter Wilds
Rysher from Sild is the only one who can obtain Great Hibiscus for you. After you’ve completed the High Rank story, you’ll be able to send villagers on gathering missions. While you cannot explicitly request the Great Hibiscus, there’s a chance that Rysher will bring back a couple while returning from Material Retrieval Expeditions.

Although that’s not a guarantee, you can increase your chances of collecting Great Hibiscus from Rysher by activating a Gathering Boost. To do so, you need to check if Sild is being influenced by a monster by continuously checking the environment overview.
Whenever you see that happening, hunt the monster, and the Gathering Boost will be applied automatically. With this boost active, Rysher will gather materials more quickly and obtain additional items. So, the chances of you getting a Great Hibiscus during this time are considerably higher.
Traders in Monster Hunter Wilds will also stock up on Great Hibiscus, but that’s an extremely rare sight.
What is Great Hibiscus Used For in Monster Hunter Wilds?
The Great Hibiscus is used as a crafting material to create the Melahoa armor set. It’s not exactly a powerful set, but it does have some good skills like Constitution, Free Meal, and Stamina Surge, which can come in handy for Dual Blade and Bow Builds.

Yes, it’s not as powerful as the Gore Magala build, but if you’re yet to hunt it, and you’re looking for a decent replacement, then the Melhoa set is something that you can consider for your hunts in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Even if you’re not interested in keeping the set, you can always turn it into layered armor to alter the look of the gear that you’re wearing. Wilds does have some hideous-looking gear, so the Melhoa armor set does have some utility, even in the endgame.
