XCOM, Dragon Age Get Student Narrative Analysis

GDC 2014 3x1

Students analyze the narratives of some of the best video games and present their findings in poster form at this year’s GDC.

Each year, the Game Developers Conference and its Game Narrative Summit put out a call for submissions to leading Game Design programs at colleges and universities across the country. Participating students take a detailed look at the narrative elements of a game title of their choice and submit a structured analysis on paper.

GDC Game Narrative Summit advisers then review the submissions. Entrants with the most promising work are then asked to present poster sessions of their work to their future professional peers at the Game Narrative Summit.

This year, there were three Platinum winners, and 18 Gold winners. Platinum winners get an all-access pass to GDC, while Gold winners get an expo pass. All winners then have their posters entered into the GDC Vault for posterity.

The following pages show the Platinum winners, as well as several of the Gold winners. For a complete list of Gold winners, visit the GDC Narrative Summit site.
