“YouTube for Television”, a beta service from Google’s YouTube team to display full-screen video made for television, is being adapted to work with Wiis, PS3s and upcoming television sets with built-in web browsers – but not Xbox 360s.

YouTube officially announced that it “has partnered directly with major TV and set-top box manufacturers” to include primitive web browsers inside televisions interfaces featuring “enlarged text and simplified navigation.” Viewers will be watching across 22 geographies and in over 12 languages.

The Wii and PS3 consoles are currently the only game systems that support YouTube. Whether this is because the Xbox 360 doesn’t have an internet browser or that it’s produced by Microsoft, Google’s arch-nemesis in business, is up for debate.

If you’re really desiring the dramatic chipmunk (yes, we know it’s actually a prairie dog) on your TV set, take your web browser to http://youtube.com/tv from your console of choice.
