Fellowship servers can’t handle the amount of MMO players rushing to play Early Access

Fellowship’s long-awaited Early Access is upon us – but some of us may have to wait as servers continue to struggle with the influx of players.

Fans of the genre have heavily anticipated the dungeon-focused MMO, a way to jump in and get that MMO experience for about 30 minutes rather than grinding like we often do in World of Warcraft.

“We’ve just kept the proposition extremely simple, which when you’re an indie studio is much easier to do. Jump in the game, do Dungeons,” Community Director Hamish Bode told Escapist. “Big, complex games are awesome, and we love to get lost in those worlds, but sometimes you only have 30 minutes before dinner, or you just don’t have the disposable time to do a laundry list of activities before you can do what it is you really want to do.”

Well, now you can’t get in at all.

Fellowship servers are currently down

The Fellowship subreddit has been flooded with frustrated MMO players who have realized they can’t queue into dungeons. Some players do not see any response from the game at all. This has been the fear of some gamers as we awaited the Early Access.

“It seems that what everyone feared to be a possibility is coming true,” said one player frustrated with the servers. “It really feels bad knowing that this game has so much potential and targets a very specific yet large player base.

“We knew since the original open testing that the servers were the main folly of the game. We know the developers and tech support are doing their best to fix everything; however, this is the third time that this issue has occurred.”

Indeed, the Open Beta was also plagued with server issues. Some gamers wondered why developers at Chief Rebel would have learned from the experience and prepared for an even bigger launch. Why wasn’t it built to scale?

However, some MMO players are saying to embrace the chaos. It’s just the way it goes for this kinda game when it first launches, as foretold by the words “massive” and “multiplayer” in the genre title.

Either way, it’s only been a few hours. Let’s hope the rest of the Fellowship Early Access launch allows us to experience the game’s true potential.

When will Fellowship servers be back up?

Developers have been aware of the server issues for the past few hours. They previously joked the servers were “straining” against players’ heroism. Unfortunately, the joke wasn’t funny after hours of issues.

Now, the Fellowship X account shared an update: “We’re getting closer to identifying the server issues.”

There are currently some improvements, developers claim, but we aren’t sure of the timeline. Keep an eye on the Fellowship X account to see more server updates throughout today.
