ARC Raiders Duo queue now prioritizes two-player squads in matchmaking

ARC Raiders has gained quite the reputation over recent weeks, with its solo player-friendly lobbies, with peace and friendship at the forefront. Compared to the trio queue mode, it’s like no-holds-barred ruthless aggression. And then there are the poor duo queue parties, who end up getting thrown into the no-holds-barred trio world, with many duos often on the losing side.

Embark Studios has noticed the bloodbath going on with duo queue lobbies and has made sneaky changes throughout the week. As revealed on November 12th, Embark Studios has quietly increased the number of duos in raids if you queue as a duo. According to the official blog post:

Duo matchmaking will work like this: first, we prioritize Solos and Squads to play separately. After that, we prioritize Duos to play with other Duos, and for Trios to play with Trios. Please note that this is not a 100% guaranteed system, so you may at times run into differing constellations of players other than your own.

It means that Duos will have much fairer fights more often than not. It’s not a foolproof system, as it can still accept trio squads in those lobbies from time to time. It also means that Trios will likely find more Trios now too, once again making fights fairer for the party sizes. Though the tension is still on, it will be rarer if you fight 2v3. So, trios may still get lucky, and duos unlucky, to add to the threat on the top side.

In other news, Embark Studios is also reducing the price of microtransactions. It’s yet another win for the company, which is proving it is listening to feedback from its player base. Our own Lloyd thinks the game is great too in his review. Embark also clarified how Raider Decks will work in the future by releasing both free and paid versions. Don’t worry about Pay-to-Win either, as all in-game items will be in free Deck or tiers too. If you’re interested, you can read the full blog post here
