Battlefield 6 devs address Winter Offensive bugs and Breakthrough changes after player complaints

Battlefield 6 is on its final patch of the seasonal roadmap. And with it came a few holiday spins on things. But it turns out that the BF6 players had been naughty (in the devs’ Santa-like eyes), and got a coal heap of bugs. After much deliberation, Battlefield devs have made an announcement that maybe they were a bit too hard on its bug-filled punishment, and want to chat to players about what happened. Considering there are plenty of bugs with Battlefield 6’s Winter Offensive, and the Breakthrough changes have not gone down too well.

It’s no secret that the 1.1.3.0 update was a bit rough. Winter Offensive launched, and with it came a lot of bugs. Perhaps the biggest one is the devs had to completely postpone its REDSEC tournament, due to some unforeseen technical issues with the standalone game.

For those playing classic Battlefield 6 modes and maps, you have seen the issues. Some Aim Down Sight scopes don’t register anything. Some players are loading in with no gun or HUD and just blasting with no visual clutter on screen in the slightest. There’s even the grand return of the no hit reg bugs, after running Battlefield Labs tests to improve hit reg and gun responsiveness.

For more technical things, we are seeing issues with micro stuttering on PC, showing a drop in performance quality since the patch. There’s resolution issues on consoles too for those who enter the Firing Range, or want to navigate the main menu UI. So everyone is affected somewhere.

To clarify the heap of issues and bugs with the Winter Offensive, DICE and other dev teams are responding to complaints.

Devs respond to bugs and breakthrough changes

As it stands, the blog post addresses some of the concerns about the patch. There are some direct hot fix patches coming out to address some of the complaints in the next few days too.

Currently fixed and resolved:

  • Stuck in the air during REDSEC pre-rounds
  • Movement momentum being inconsistent
  • Daily Challenge rewards not working
  • Battle pass tier skip issues
  • Conquest ticket cap accidental changes

Upcoming fixes:

  • December 12: Patch to fix PC micro stuttering
  • December 15: Consoles and EA App players will get resolution fixes for the firing range and menu issues

After that the devs are still working on fixes for many other issues. Currently, the devs are actively working on fixes for the following:

  • Bot stats tracking is in development
  • Rubberbanding with min spec PC systems
  • Breakthrough: The changes to player count and more attacking vehicles swung the balance too much. Devs are investigating. There’s some fixes to overlapping vehicle spawns, and the devs are still monitoring the other changes.
