Bethesda developers have given us an update on The Elder Scrolls 6 and it’s sorta whatever.
The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced back in 2018 with a very vague cinematic trailer. Since then, we’ve basically heard nothing. And we definitely haven’t seen anything. It’s now been 14 years since the launch of Skyrim and gamers feel like it could be 14 more until The Elder Scrolls 6 is launched.
Bethesda finally says something (sorta) about The Elder Scrolls 6
In an interview with Game Informer, Tedd Howard, Angela Browder, and Emil Pagliarulo discussed the development of The Elder Scrolls 6. According to Howard, development is “progressing really well.” And it hasn’t been as much of an afterthought as gamers believed.
“The majority of the studio’s on VI, but I’ll say this: We always overlap,” Howard said. “So, we’re very used to overlapping development. And we have long pre-productions on things so that we feel good about them.
“And it’s a process. We all wish it went a little bit faster – or a lot faster – but it’s a process that we want to get right.”
While we were still given no real information about The Elder Scrolls 6 (no plot, no gameplay elements), we did learn from Browder that we should expect “endless possibilities” and a look at how the gaming industry has advanced since Skyrim. In other words: “It’s gonna be dope.”
When is The Elder Scrolls 6 coming out?
Glad you asked. WE DON’T KNOW!
Anyway, Pagliarulo said that Bethesda is feeling the “time pressure” from desperate fans. However, they don’t put that same pressure on themselves. In other words, they’re not willing to rush the process simply because players want the game to be released.
That doesn’t mean gamers are being ignored, of course. They acknowledged gamers’ frustrations, but Pagliarulo noted: “What do fans really want? Do they want a game that comes out before it should and doesn’t meet their expectations? Or do they want the turkey that is in the oven for long enough to be delicious when it finally comes out of the oven, you know?”
So there you have it. The carefully curated answers from a team that was already well-prepared to not give us any answers. Not a surprise after Howard claimed he wanted to “shadow drop” The Elder Scrolls 6.
