Deep Rock Galactic’s new season 06 reveals all-new enemies, biome and mode

Coffee Stain and Ghost Ship Games revealed the Deep Rock Galactic Season 06: Relics of Hoxxes release date. The new season of content comes to Steam on January 29th. The content update is bringing a new tomb-like biome, three enemy types, and a Heavy Extraction mission type to the co-op mining shooter. The seasonal content includes a free Performance Pass with cosmetic rewards and weapon frameworks

Note that console players are delayed slightly. The Console version’s release date comes on February 12th, as stated in the previous season teaser posted last week. 

As for the content itself, the Ossuary Depths biome introduces Resinite deposits as the primary resource. You can find the new resource within vast caverns filled with skeletal remains and stalagmites. The update also comes with a new Heavy Extraction mission. It tasks players with carefully unearthing amber masses and depositing them into rocket-supported Lift Pods. Coffee Stain Publishing and Ghost Ship Games described the biome as adding “a literal new layer to Hoxxes IV.”

While down in the depths, you’ll encounter three new enemies. Ossiran Scrabs are small, hard-shelled creatures that attack in swarms. Secondly, Ossiran Pit Jaws burrow underground and ambush players like living bear traps. Finally, Ossiran Bone Collectors are timid creatures that hoard crystalline Ossium in their lairs.

These enemies tie into the new season event too. The seasonal event “Ossiran Raid” requires players to follow Bone Collectors to their lairs, raid their Ossium supplies, and deposit the material into the M.U.L.E. before extraction. So don’t think you’ll be getting away from the new threats. P.S. The regular enemies are still around, too. Be prepared for both new threats.

While Ghost Ship did announce that there is a paid DLC, there will also be free rewards to grab too. Season 06’s free Performance Pass includes a Diesel Driven weapons framework, pickaxe sets, armor and weapon paint jobs, new dance emotes, and additional cosmetic rewards. A paid DLC pack called Relic Raiders launches alongside the season, offering archaeology-themed cosmetics, as revealed last week.

Season 06 is currently live on the Experimental branch for PC players fro players to test. You can join in by selecting the game version by going into the Steam properties and selecting the experimental build.
