Destiny 2’s next expansion, Renegades, launches next week, and Bungie just revealed a big list of changes to the game’s core abilities which will come into effect with the patch.
There are some really quite significant adjustments here, like Warlocks being able to cast a rift while running, buffs to the Hunter’s tether, and much more, which Bungie revealed in a blog post ahead of tomorrow’s deep-dive into the expansion.
And, while some fans are a little disappointed the Titan didn’t get as much to write home about, Hunter mains will likely be very excited for next week.
It’s a good time to be a Hunter in Destiny 2
I won’t regurgitate the blog post but if you are in the weeds with Destiny 2 abilities, or even a more casual player, you may have noticed that Hunters feel a little weaker than the other two classes in the game right now.
“Our friend Crow asked us to say “thank you” to all the Hunters out there providing feedback about Hunter endgame viability. We hear you loud and clear,” Bungie said.
“Of the three Guardian classes, Hunters have the most ability changes coming in Renegades, with more on the way in future releases.”
Gunslinger Hunters will get more damage (Blade Barrage is getting a 39% damage buff), while Nightstalker will get more damage for Moebius Quiver and improved Weaken effects for Deadfall.
Warlocks will now pull foes in with their Nova Bomb Vortex Super, and Stormcallers can finally get some improved damage from Stormtrance and Chaos Reach. Winter’s Wrath is getting a huge 210% damage boost, too, for the shatterwave part, and Needlestorm’s needles will now go for bosses and Champions first.
Another big change is that Warlocks can cast Rifts while moving, and have a bigger radius.
Titans will see their Hammer Throws do more damage with additional range of the throw, while Sentinel Shield will grant Void Overshield to allies at the cost of some damage bonus. Still, blocking attacks with the shield extends the Super.
Fists of havoc is getting a welcome change, too, with light attacks increasing the next heavy attack’s damage.
in terms of overall changes, you’ll be pleased to know that Suppressor Grenades won’t suppress the player throwing them now, and Lightning Grenades attach to enemies.
Finally, Strand Threadlings will look for additional targets if you kill the one they’re aiming at before they get there, which is a huge result for Strand builds.
