If you’ve ever wanted to play a superhero workplace drama, Dispatch is likely for you. It’s developed by AdHoc Studio, made up of Telltale Games, Ubisoft, and Night School Studio alumni, and it has a great cast.
It’s also off to a decent start on Steam, despite only releasing two episodes so far, with SteamDB’s Steam Charts putting it at a peak of 12,707 players just after launch.
Sure, it’s dropped down to 2,344 right now, but at the time of writing it’s Monday morning in the UK and the game’s next episode is a few days away.
It stands to reason that many players who have picked the first season up for $29.99/£24.99 will have played through its first two episodes and be waiting for the next one on October 29 to jump back in.
Steam numbers aside, the game also launched on PS5, with player data unavailable there, but all signs point to a positive debut for Dispatch’s first season.
What is Dispatch?
In Dispatch, you step into the life of Robert Robertson, aka Mecha Man, a once-celebrated superhero whose mech suit was destroyed in battle, forcing him into a desk job at the Superhero Dispatch Network. Now, he manages a team of reformed villains, juggling office politics, questionable missions, and the pursuit of justice against his old nemesis. Think The Office with lycra.
“We built Dispatch to be something people can play, watch, and talk about together,” said Nick Herman, Creative Director and co-founder at AdHoc Studio. “Some of our favorite gaming moments come from comparing choices with friends, and we hope this series sparks those same kinds of conversations.”
