Fallout 76 server status frustrates players after Burning Springs update

In true Bethesda fashion, a recent update that was meant to be a huge moment for Fallout 76 has not gone as planned. The massive map update came with new content and new rewards, the arrival of The Ghoul, and server issues.

The Fallout 76 community has been pretty frustrated throughout December 2 as Bethesda updated players about continued issues all day.

On November 28th, Bethesda warned players that Fallout 76 would be brought offline intentionally around 10 AM EST in anticipation of the Burning Springs update going live. This is par for the course with all online multiplayer games, so sure, that’s fine.

However, the servers remained down much longer than anticipated. Players started to mass report that they could no longer get online, causing Bethesda to send out an update mid-day: “The team is aware of login issues. Thank you for your patience as we investigate.”

That patience was short-lived, however, when the issue persisted into the evening. Around 8 PM EST, Bethesda ended up taking the servers offline intentionally to keep investigating the login issue. At this point, players were unable to experience Burning Springs all day, leaving them feeling quite defeated.

“Starting to think today is not going to happen,” said one disappointed gamer.

Fallout 76 current server status: Questionable

Finally, at 9 PM EST, Bethesda shared another update: “Fallout 76 servers are online and we’re seeing positive signs that the login issue is resolved. Thank you once again for your patience.”

Unfortunately, players across all consoles and PC reported that they still were unable to get in and play. As more and more players shared error messages from Vault-Tec, one player even ranted: “It most certainly is NOT back up and running. You guys definitely need to do a Double SCORE weekend this weekend to make up for this.”

It’s most definitely an unfortunate end to a day that was supposed to be quite exciting for Fallout 76 players. They survived the miserable launch of the game, which was depressingly barren and boring, with bugs galore and flat NPCs. (That’s luckily gotten better.) Then they stuck around after the monetization drama.

And for what… For this?

How to fix Fallout 76 server issue

Well, uh, ya can’t. This is unfortunately a universal issue that doesn’t have a workaround if you’re receiving this message from “Vault-Tec engineers.”

Keep an eye on this Reddit thread for updates or Bethesda’s Support account on X. It’s definitely a huge disappointment after anticipating such a massive and cool update, but it will work eventually.

Likely tomorrow…

Right?
