Gamescom Latam

Gamescom Latam opens today and we will be there to bring you all the good stuff

While Gamescom may be more known for its showpiece European event in Cologne each year, the recent arrival of its South American counterpart, Gamescom Latam, has brought the showpiece brand to São Paulo, Brazil on an annual basis.

Formerly the Big Festival, there is no doubt that partnering with Gamescom has managed to bring more European eyes to what is going on in South American when it comes to gaming talent.

Over the coming three days, The Escapist will be on the ground at the event bringing you everything worth knowing about, from big award winners to all the new games coming out of the continent’s thriving video game scene.

While officially open to the public from Thursday to Sunday, we have been invited for the preview event as well taking place today, so we are lucky enough to get first dibs on what the 2026 Gamescom Latam will be showing off.

With more than 210 publishers and over 100 partner institutions coming together under one roof, the event will feature 91 booths, 143 gaming stations, and more than 60 confirmed game launches. The program will also offer over 300 hours of stage content, with more than 500 speakers, including 120 international guests.  Yes. It’s big time.

There will be appearances and talks from may of the great and good of the gaming world and highlights include appearances from figures such as legendary composer David Wise (known for the Donkey Kong franchise), Maxence Cazorla, known for voicing the character Esquie in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of Control Resonant and Co-Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment, who will take part in panels and meet-and-greets.

Brendan Greene, creator of PUBG: Battlegrounds, will also take the stage to discuss his career and current projects.

So, for the next few days, São Paulo is the place to be when it comes to the games industry, and The Escapist, as you would expect, will be right in the middle of it all in just a few hours’ time.
