Helldivers 2

Check out the biggest changes in the new Helldivers 2 patch ‘Into the Unjust’

The Helldivers 2 patch, Into the Unjust, is now live, and the patch notes showcase quite a few changes for this content update. There are plenty of balance changes to orbital stratagems, alongside official announcements of all the new creatures coming to the Terminid worlds Helldivers need to purge.

Hive Worlds and New Threats

The Hive Worlds are the focus of the new content update. Players need to reclaim planets for Super Earth, and they’ll do this by exterminating the hives of advanced Terminid life forms. The planets will have randomly generated hive and tunnel systems to explore, alongside new missions inside them. The surface will also have the ability to transport huge oil refineries to extract resources, while you have to defend the moving target against Terminid swarms.

However, these worlds are more hazardous than normal. There will be hostile flora and fauna, alongside acid lakes causing you trouble, as well as new advanced bug spires that will offer a challenge too.

Though these hostile worlds are not totally immune to stratagems, players can easily drop stratagems onto the surface. There are even holes in these tunnels to call down your stratagems into the underground areas. In addition, the tunnels have destructible walls that can create new paths for you to explore. Looks like you’re going to need ammo refreshes for those grenades and launchers to demolish these tunnels with ease.

While there’s fun to be had, the Terminids also have new toys. There are four new enemies you can encounter:

  • Rupture Spewer: A burrowing enemy that can pop up and spew acid from afar, before burrowing again to harass you more from a different position.
  • Rupture Warrior: A new type of warrior enemy that prefers to burrow rather than run and fight you head-on. These creatures look slightly different as they no longer have a heavily armored carapace.
  • Rupture Charger: Again, another burrowing enemy, but it will use the burrowing feature to ambush and then charge you down instead. Be careful of flanks from this creature.
  • Dragonroach: This is the teased dragon-like creature that flies in the open air. The creature will fly down and strafe-bomb Helldivers intermittently. Be on your toes with anti-air needs when exploring the overworld of Hive planets.

Balance Changes

Orbital strikes are a focus of the balance changes. The non-explosive ordnance is being shaped to be similar to the gas effects to give more tactical options a better chance.

Both the smoke and E.M.S have 300 damage on the projectile itself, and will now have an armor penetration score of 7. The demolition strength is also increased to 50, keeping it in line with the gas orbital projectiles.

There’s also a nice change to the stun mechanic. Players hit will no longer get ragdolled by the stun effect. So, those CQB tactical playstyles are getting nice improvements. This is very much needed since there’s restricted room in those hive tunnels. These changes should help subterranean Helldivers out a lot.

More so, there are several other big fixes and minor changes. You can find the full patch notes on Steam. But with that said, get stuck in, Helldivers, with the new update, and save liberty once again. Don’t forget, there’s also the ODST warbond to partake in
