Aniimo release: Everything we know about the open-world ARPG

The creature-catcher RPG world is expanding once again in 2026, with Aniimo set for release. This colorful title promises to blend ARPG elements, exploration, and creature-catching mechanics, all wrapped up in a whimsical, stylized aesthetic. 

Below, we’ve detailed everything currently known about the Aniimo release, including the key features, the gameplay style, and when players might be able to hop into the world of Idyll for the first time.

• Aniimo is an upcoming creature-catching ARPG, developed by Pawprint Studio and published by Kingsglory Games. It’s a title that’s worth watching if you’re a fan of cozy games and creature-catchers.
• A handful of the game’s critters have been revealed so far on the official website, including Nimbi, a floating, cloud-like sheep, and Emberpup, a fiery, fox-like dog. These creatures are called Aniimos. 
• There isn’t an official Aniimo release date yet, but the release window has been confirmed – it’ll be out in 2026, available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile, joining an already hectic year for releases.

When could Aniimo be released?

A full Aniimo release date has not been revealed yet at the time of writing. The release window has been confirmed, though – Aniimo will be available in 2026. We’ll update this article once further details have been revealed. 

A second iteration of the Aniimo beta test creator program was announced on December 11, 2025, as confirmed on the game’s official site.

How much will Aniimo cost to play?

Aniimo has been advertised as a free-to-play game, with no mention of base costs or subscription fees in any of the official marketing. As such, there are no Aniimo pre-orders currently available. 

There’s been no information about how the game will be monetized yet – we’re speculating that there may be a cosmetics store of some description, as it would make sense based on the game’s genre and style, but this has not been confirmed.

Confirmed Aniimo platforms

As per the game’s official site and Xbox store listing, Aniimo will be available to play on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile. There has been no mention of the game being available on PS4 or PS5 at the time of writing. 

Aniimo trailer & gameplay analysis

An initial Aniimo trailer was shown off at Tokyo Game Show, revealing a slew of new Aniimos and giving players a further look at what the game world, Idyll, will look like.

All of the footage in the trailer was captured in-game, which highlights the visual quality that fans should be able to expect when the game launches in full. The art style is vibrant, but more importantly, the movement looks sharp and clean. 

Another Aniimo trailer was revealed at the 2025 Xbox Games Showcase event, providing a further look at the in-game world and highlighting the game’s interface style, too. Highlights include a variety of critters, a research function, and a deeply interactive world.

What languages will Aniimo support?

The Aniimo website notes that English, Chinese, and Japanese will all be supported languages at launch, with an FAQ summary noting that the team is considering further languages based on player feedback. 

Aniimo is looking like a promising title for fans of free-to-play creature-catchers and cozy RPGs so far, with a charming art style and seemingly vast game world. The Aniimo release window is currently slated to be 2026, with Xbox Series X/S, PC, and mobile all being platforms that players will be able to explore Idyll on.
