Given that we got new maps, weapons, and the RedSec Battle Royale as a standalone experience, Season 2 will show us what to expect going forward for DICE’s latest shooter. Here’s all we know about Battlefield 6 Season 2, including that all-important start date.
The Escapist recaps
- Battlefield 6’s first season was slated to wrap up this month, having given us three different content drops since October, but it will now run into February.
- Season 2 will arrive on February 17, with Season 1 being extended “to allow extra time to further develop and refine Season 2 as a result of community feedback.”
- This will be followed by content drops on March 17 and April 14.
Battlefield 6 Season 2 expected release date
The current season launched on October 28, with new content arriving every three weeks or so to keep things fresh.
Season 2 will launch on February 17.
According to a press release from EA, Season 1 was extended “to allow extra time to further develop and refine Season 2 as a result of community feedback.”
After this, part 2 of Season 2 will arrive on March 17, while April 14 will bring the last piece before the inevitable Season 3.
What to expect from Battlefield 6 Season 2
Now that EA has released a lengthy blog post about Battlefield 6 Season 2, we have a better idea of what’s included for the full game, and for RedSec.
February 17:
This update is called ‘Extreme Measures’, and includes a new map called Conaminated and a Limited-time mode based around hallucinogenic gas.
RedSec will get new modes, with the same gas invading the game’s Gauntlet mode and the core Battle Royale mode.
New weapons include the GRT-CPS marksman rifle, VCR-2 assault rifle, M121 A2 LMG, and a new lock-on rocket launcher for the Engineer class. That’ll be particularly helpful because there’s a new small helicopter joining both sides of the conflict.
March 17:
A new map and a limited-time event arrive in Nightfall. Hagentai Base is a new location that will be added to Battlefield 6, and to RedSec, while Nightfall will have players using night-vision goggles on the new map.
There’s also a new dirt bike coming, a new SMG, and a fresh sidearm.
April 14:
The last part of Battlefield 6 Season 2 is Hunter/Prey, and introduces a limited-time mode (we’ll update this when we hear more about it), a new LTV (Light Tactical Vehicle), and a machete weapon.
It’ll also add Battle Royale Duos.
Ask The Escapist
No, Battlefield 6 is a full-price title, but the standalone Battle Royale, RedSec, is free-to-play and features multiple modes.
Battlefield 6 seasons are free, helping keep the player base together and giving everyone access to the same content.
Battlefield 6 can be played on Xbox Series S and X, PlayStation 5, and PC.
