The end of 2025 will mark a new era for Genshin Impact, as the game’s 6.2. update, called Luna III, will bring even more characters and quests into the game. While it won’t be quite as impactful as update 6.1’s UCG content, some mechanics being introduced will freshen up the game and encourage people to switch up their playstyles.
It’s strange to think that Genshin Impact has celebrated its fifth anniversary, yet continues to have a passionate fanbase that comes back each day to explore a little more of its world. Hopefully, the 6.2. gameplay updates will add an extra layer of challenge and planning that keeps people engaged for years to come.

Genshin Impact 6.2. Release date
The Genshin Impact 6.2. release date is expected to be December 3, 2025. This follows the pattern the game has had for updates since launch, and it’s only likely to change due to major real-life circumstances.
What new Banners are in Genshin Impact 6.2.?
There are Genshin Impact’s 6.2. leaks that have confirmed two of the new Banners that are coming in the next update. While these characters have been confirmed by HoYoverse, it’s the details of their skill sets that have been discovered by dataminers.
The first new character is Durin, a 5-Star rarity Pyro Sword user. Durin has a unique gimmick that’s akin to something from an MMO, where he has two active combat states, selected after using an elemental-themed Skill.
If Durin uses a normal attack, he enters his Confirmation of Purity state, which summons a white dragon and deals AoE damage. If Durin uses a special attack, he enters Denial of Darkness state, summoning a dark dragon that focuses on a single opponent.
The other new character is Jahoda, a 4-Star Ameno Bow user, whose regular attacks involve striking enemies from afar. Jahoda’s Elemental Burst is a restorative move that summons two Purr-sonal Household Helper Coordinators, which can heal nearby allies.
Jahoda also has the Purrfect Treasure Flask mechanic, which charges up when she’s near enemies that have been afflicted with Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo. Once full, it can be used to damage foes.
The leaks have also claimed that classic characters will be receiving buffs in the Genshin Impact 6.2. update. The leaks say that Albedo, Fischl, Klee, Mona, Razor, Sucrose, and Venti will all be improved in Luna 3.
What new Weapons are in Genshin Impact 6.2.?
The new characters introduced in Genshin Impact 6.2. will come with new weapons. The leaks have confirmed three new Weapons so far:
Black Erosion – A 5-Star Sword that boosts Elemental Burst damage and grants the “Daylight Blade” buff after it’s used, increasing their damage for three seconds. If the team has the “Arcane Rite” effect active, then Daylight Blade’s bonuses are increased by 75%.
The Dawn of the Distant Hymn – A 5-Star Bow which grants the “Risen Dawnwind” effect, where their attacks and Elemental Burst are improved after staying out of combat for three seconds. If the team has the “Arcane Rite” effect active, then Risen Dawnwind’s bonuses are increased.
Rainstring of the Rainbow Serpent – A 4-Star Bow which increases the user’s ATK for eight seconds after they’ve struck an opponent.
What new Quests are in Genshin Impact 6.2.?
Genshin Impact 6.2 will add new quests, which will continue the story from the previous update. Details of the new quests will be added when 6.2. launches.
The Genshin Impact 6.2. leaks mention a quest called “The Witch’s Coursework”, granting certain characters the “Arcane Rite” effect when they’re used together. These are intended for Hexenzirkel faction characters, encouraging players to use them as part of the party.
Will any new Artifacts be added in Genshin Impact 6.2?
No, not yet. No new Artifacts have been confirmed for Genshin Impact 6.2. We’ll update this piece once more information is revealed.
Do we know if any map changes have arrived in Genshin Impact 6.2.?
No, not yet. It has yet to be confirmed whether Genshin Impact 6.2. will add or take anything away from the map. We’ll update this piece once more information is revealed.
Ask The Escapist
The Genshin Impact 6.2 leaks claim that Varesa, Xilonen, and Venti will return, with Venti receiving a new Constellation and Signature Weapon.
This is something of a misconception. Genshin Impact 6.2. characters from the Hexenzirkel faction in the game will get special buffs when used as part of the same party, encouraging the player to change their loadout to make the most of these effects. Whether the boost will be enough to justify players swapping out their favorites remains to be seen.
The leaks haven’t confirmed whether any new maps or zones will appear, which pretty much confirms that none are planned. Despite this, the current storyline involves exploring the Nod-Krai islands, which there are said to be five of, but only three can be explored. It’s likely that these will appear in the future, but not in 6.2.
It’s likely that the mechanic will be used going forward with new characters, but it’s less likely to be integrated with existing heroes.
