It’s unlikely that God of War: Laufey will come to PC, at least anytime soon

With the State of Play earlier this week, many have seen the 20 minute gameplay reveal of the latest God of War, Laufey. The game features the player controlling Faye, Kratos’ departed lover. While there, she finds herself in the afterlife of the gods, encountering a bunch of mysterious characters early on in her trip through the lands. It has certainly captured the attention of the world, with many either eager or sceptical about it. Yet for some PC players hoping to get into the franchise, the question is whether it is coming to PC at all.

Will God of War: Laufey come to PC? It’s looking unlikely

The honest answer is unknown. Based on Bloomberg’s reporting earlier this year, Jason Schreier revealed that Sony is looking to stop adding games to Steam and PC. The State of Play also only mentioned PlayStation, with no PC reference anywhere. So it seems Laufey is only coming to console as of right now.

That said, it does not necessarily mean it will never come to PC. Sony has not addressed the rumours yet, so there is a chance Jason could be off. Though that is unlikely given his recent track record is generally pretty sound.

The other issue is that Sony only really reveals God of War PC ports around two years or so after their console release. Ragnarok launched on PC in late 2024, with an announcement coming roughly earlier that year. God of War 2018 also released on PC in 2022, putting it at a four year gap between its console and PC debut. So even if Laufey is coming to PC, you likely will not find out for a few years anyway.

If you are invested in the series, it might be time to consider getting a PlayStation, as it seems uncertain whether it will come to PC at all, given the reporting and current trends. Console prices are also heading upward thanks to the AI boom, competing with hardware sourcing and costs. So it is better to get your hands on a PlayStation sooner rather than later, before prices climb further.

It is also worth noting how long GTA 6 is likely to take to reach PC as well. That too has no PC date yet. Sometimes the console players get a win over PC.
